Managing Director, Business Development (staff)

Recognized as one of the world's top providers of customized executive education, Babson Executive and Enterprise Education (BEEE) is one of the three main divisions of Babson College. Its global client base includes corporations, entrepreneurs, educational institutions, foundations, non-profits, governments and NGOs; and client solutions include custom, open-enrollment, and sponsored programs. BEEE offers the longest-standing and most well-known program for teaching entrepreneurship educators, the Price-Babson Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators, and BEEE offers numerous other programs for entrepreneurship educators and business organizations throughout the world.

The Managing Director, Business Development plays a lead role in establishing and driving BEEE's strategy in the global marketplace. The Managing Director reports directly to the Dean for BEEE and serves as part of the BEE's senior leadership team.

Specifically, the Managing Director is responsible for: leading a team of business development professionals; leading a set of integrated business development and marketing activities that support BEEE's lines of business; driving revenue generation in accordance with organizational strategy and goals; conveying BEEE's capabilities to key clients and business partners; being an expert on industry trends; and enhancing BEEE's competitive position by collaborating with faculty, college marketing, the graduate school, and research centers to shape a market-driven portfolio of products and services.


• 15-20+ years of relevant experience in consultative sales and/or business development with a proven record of success selling high-priced, intangible/conceptual products with long sales cycles. MBA or other advanced degree in related field preferred.
• Previous experience as a leader and motivator of global sales and business development teams.
• Proven ability to interact and negotiate effectively with domestic and international senior leaders from the business, education and public sectors. Experience living and working outside North America strongly preferred.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, relationship building, oral and written communication skills.
• Must be financially literate in understanding pricing models and hurdles for profitability.
• Must have an understanding of how to use marketing function in the service of business development.
• Must be independent, self-confident, and highly credible in representing BEEE and Babson College.
• Ability to work in diverse, complex, rapidly changing, deadline driven environment.
• Ability to work independently to solve problems, take thoughtful risks, and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives to gain sought-after results.
• Ability to travel globally.
